Hotel José Nogueira offers 22 rooms, including 6 suites and 16 standard rooms: 2 singles, 8 twins, and 6 matrimonial (double) rooms. These rooms are elegantly decorated and well-equipped, blending traditional style with the comfort of contemporary hospitality.

Suites

We have 6 unique suites, each varying in size, layout, and decor. They are equipped with independent heating, electronic locks, wireless internet, telephone, smart TV, a safe, minibar, desk, and a full bathroom with a shower.

In an effort to keep alive the pioneering and entrepreneurial spirit of Jose Nogueira, we have named our suites after aspects of his life and his ventures in Patagonia.

To preserve the building’s structure, available spaces were adapted, and as a result, not all rooms are exactly the same. Some are more spacious, and others are smaller, but each one has its own personality and unique features, all of them of high quality. This characteristic of Hotel José Nogueira extends to our guests, who receive personalized attention, far from the massification that often surrounds us.

Villa Nova de Gaia (203)

This suite consists of 2 areas, one with a King bed and the other with 2 armchairs, a desk, a side table, and a Smart TV. The bathroom is equipped with a shower. The room size is approximately 29 square meters.

Villa Nova de Gaia is the birthplace of José Nogueira. It originally emerged as an autonomous village on the banks of the Douro River in the northern region of Portugal. By the mid-19th century, it became a transfluvial suburb of the city of Porto.

Schooner Martha Gale (309)

This suite features a single room with a King bed, 2 armchairs, a large desk, and a walk-in closet. The bathroom has two separate areas. The room size is approximately 30 square meters.

The Martha Gale was a splendid three-masted schooner with a registry of 247 tons. It became part of José Nogueira’s fleet in 1885, replacing the first vessels that were already showing signs of wear and tear due to continuous navigation through the channels.

Schooner Rescue (310)

This suite is divided into two areas with a small elevation of 4 steps. In the living area of this room, the original tile floor was restored during the recent hotel renovation. This space includes a small desk, a sofa, and a side table. The bedroom features a King bed with two spacious armchairs, and the bathroom is equipped with a shower. The room size is approximately 37 square meters.

The schooner Rescue was one of the last vessels acquired by José Nogueira and was part of a true coastal fleet used for both fishing and hunting seals. This fleet began with the small schooner Anita and expanded to include other vessels like the schooners San Pedro, Martha Gale, Rippling Wave, Express, and San José.

Estancia Pecket Harbour (311)

This suite comprises an entrance hall with a sofa and a small desk, as well as a bedroom with a King bed, a spacious armchair, a bench, a side table, and a very spacious bathroom with a shower. The room size is approximately 51 square meters.

In 1884, during the colonization period of Magallanes, the Chilean government auctioned leaseholds for pastoral exploitation. José Nogueira acquired the right to exploit lot number 45, consisting of 30,000 hectares, which formed his “Estancia Pecket Harbour.” Initially, the lease was for five years but was later extended for another fifteen years. By that time, the estate had 5,000 sheep, hundreds of cattle, and horse stock. It was the first estate to have fenced fields. Cattle from this estate were used to populate Tierra del Fuego in collaboration with the Tierra del Fuego Land Exploitation Society.

Schooner Anita (312)

This suite features an entrance hall with a small desk and a bedroom with a King bed, two spacious armchairs, a bench, a side table, and a chest of drawers. The bathroom, equipped with a shower and bidet, is the most spacious in the hotel. The room size is approximately 39 square meters.

The schooner Anita was the first vessel owned by José Nogueira, with a registry of just 15 tons. It was constructed in a local shipyard. He cherished it until his death, holding deep affection for the ship. The Goleta Anita was a faithful companion in seal hunting activities and was also used for numerous shipwreck rescue missions and charter trips.

Schooner Rippling Wave (314)

This suite consists of a spacious single room with a Super King bed, two bergeres, a sofa, a side table, and a large desk. The bathroom is equipped with a shower. The room size is approximately 51 square meters.

The schooner Rippling Wave is a vessel with a rich history. In 1880, it was acquired by the pioneer Jose Nogueira for his journeys from Punta Arenas to the Falkland Islands, from where he brought sheep, the “white gold” that would populate the Magellanic plains. Later, it came into the possession of the Braun and Scott company, continuing to supply provisions to remote estates. Aboard this vessel, apprentice ranchers, the first sheep, their guardian dogs, and the wood for solitary ranches were transported. It can be said that the Rippling Wave played a crucial role in populating both Chilean and Argentine Patagonia.
