This salon is part of The Endurance Restaurant and can also be used for private events, meetings, training sessions, etc.
Frank Wild was the second in command during the epic struggle of the Endurance expedition, in which, for over a year, 28 men fought for their lives after their ship became trapped in the ice. Wild played a key role in keeping the crew alive, stranded on a desolate island for more than four months, surviving on a diet of raw penguins, seals, and algae.
In the original residence of Sara Braun, this salon was designated as a billiard room. It features a beautiful baseboard with hand-painted decorative medieval human figures in a symmetrical pattern with Hermes pilasters and characteristic Renaissance-style half-round arches. The room boasts a magnificent fireplace carved from Italian marble.
The ceiling is constructed with coffered panels made of fine varnished wood, hand-painted with various vegetal motifs and arabesques. The original furniture, such as the billiard table, the beautiful central lamp, and others, can be currently seen on the second floor of the palace, in the section preserved as a museum, and in the room that was originally Sara Braun’s bedroom.

Decorated with the original furniture from the Sara Braun Palace, this salon currently houses the house’s original piano. It is the main salon of the residence, where social gatherings, cultural events, and Club de la Unión activities are often held. It is also used for events organized by our hotel, and we can customize the setup according to the client’s request.
This beautiful salon reflects the opulence of the era with its walnut furniture, wooden baseboards, parquet flooring crafted with fine exotic woods, plush curtains with trimmings, bronze lamps, metal sculptural figures, marble figurines, and antique paintings adorning the walls.
Capacity: 10 people at a central table
This is a small, private salon, measuring 4×3 meters. It is part of The Endurance Restaurant and can also be used for meetings, interviews, board games, and more. It is not recommended for presentations with projection equipment due to the limited space between the screen and the table.
After the expedition’s ship, the Endurance, became trapped in ice and eventually sank, Worsley and the rest of the crew sailed in three lifeboats to Elephant Island, off the Antarctic Peninsula. From there, Worsley, Shackleton, and four others sailed the 6.9-meter-long lifeboat James Caird over 1,300 km across the treacherous South Atlantic Ocean to their intended destination, South Georgia. Worsley’s navigational expertise was crucial for the safe arrival of the James Caird. Shackleton, Worsley, and sailor Tom Crean then embarked on a 36-hour journey on foot through snow, ice, and mountains to seek help at the Stromness whaling station. In August, Worsley and Shackleton returned to Elephant Island aboard the Yelcho, a Chilean navy vessel, to rescue the remaining members of the expedition, all of whom survived.
The entrance hall to our The Endurance Restaurant is dedicated to the photographer of the expedition, James Francis “Frank” Hurley, an Australian photographer who participated in numerous Antarctic expeditions. It features a mural of one of his fantastic photographs taken aboard the Endurance. This site has become the Instagram-worthy spot in our hotel, where we invite you to take a photo with this backdrop and share it on your social media, proudly showcasing that you’ve been part of this incredible adventure.
